On Our Minds @ Scholastic: What would you give up to help send books to kids in need?

What would you give up this summer to give books to kids in need?

This is the challenge set forth by the wonderful people at Scholastic, who are raising money for a non-profit entity called Reading is Fundamental (RIF).  They are making a push to raise even more money this summer, a time when kids without books regress in their learning, known as "Summer Reading Loss". Children who read four or more books during the summer break fare better in the fall than their peers who didn't read.

These are books that go to children in our own neighborhoods, our own towns, our own states.  This program has already served over 260,000 books to children in New Jersey.  To see how RIF helps the children in your community, take a look at the map

We at Alison's Book Marks have donated to this worthy cause.

No child should be without books.
