Review: Kindergarten Cat by J. Patrick Lewis and Ailie Busby

In-keeping with my Kindergarten theme this week, I am so happy to have the opportunity to share with you another lovely book for you to share with your Kindergartner!

In Kindergarten Cat, Mr. Bigbuttons finds a stray cat and brings him to the one place he knows the cat will receive a lot of love - the Kindergarten classroom.  The kids name their new class pet Tinker Toy.  Most cats would be content to sleep their way through circle time, the alphabet and the weather chart - not Tinker Toy!  He is truly a part of the class, and even calls out his "Meow" when he knows the answers.

I have been reading a lot of Kindergarten-themed books to my son this summer, getting him ready for his big year.  This was wonderfully written and funny, while the illustrations were colorful and interesting, without becoming too busy.  The only downside of this book is now my son thinks that he too will have a class cat named Tinker Toy!

*Disclosure:  A review copy of this book was provided by the publisher.
