I had no idea that movie rights were discussed before books were even released - this is precicely what happened with I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore (Harper, August 1, 2010).

I've read the book. Will read the second one when it comes out, but I'm not sure if I will see the movie. I've heard the female lead is to be played by an actress from Glee, so that might get my to watch it.
