Review: Bossypants by Tina Fey

Laugh-out-loud funny!

Tina Fey narrates her own audiobook - and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.   Bossypants was already on my TBR list, but when I heard Tina Fey was reading the audio, I knew that I would be listening to the book instead of reading it.  Let's be honest, there is no way I am going to deliver Tina Fey's words in my own head better than Tina Fey herself.  (Great move on my part.)
Sitting in Tunnel traffic heading into Manhattan has never been so entertaining!  My traffic mates probably thought I was a crazy person, but I didn't care.  When my commute didn't allow me to finish the book, I found myself taking the long way home from little league baseball games and parent-teacher conferences just to listen to more!

Tina Fey talks about everything from the awkwardness of puberty to working for the Improv group, Second City;  from the thrill of her years working for Lorne Michaels at Saturday Night Live to the Internet haters (to which she responds!); from the 2008 presidential election that catapulted her to celebritydom, to the Teat Nazis she encounters after becoming a mother.   (SNL allowed the rights for her to use the audio clip of the opening with her as Sarah Palin and Amy Poehler as Hillary Clinton.  I don't care who you voted for, this clip is HILARIOUS.)  I have tried to come up with which chapter was my favorite - but I can not.

My only warning:  Don't listen while the kids are around, or download onto your iPod for your own personal enjoyment.  Tina Fey does not censor herself...nor should she!

Tina Fey is honest, insightful, and funny as hell.  I am so glad I listened to this book, and highly recommend Bossypants!

Now I wish I had listened to this book instead of reading it! One of the things I loved about it was she told women that we're really not competing with each other. I've added your review to the Reagan Arthur Books Challenge blog.

Kathy - Tina Fey definitely had some great advice and insights for women delivered in that self-depricating comedic way that only she can. Thanks for adding this one to the Reagan Arthur Challenge!
