It's Monday, What Are You Reading?

Good morning, and Happy New Year!

Today is Monday, January 2, 2012...What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by the one and only Sheila from Book Journey.  Sheila is one of those people who inspire me, not just as a reader, but as a person.  She's a light caster if there every was one!  Go check her out, though, because she reads all the books I WANT to read, but just can't get to!
In the meantime, here is what I have been up to this week:
Books Read This Week:

Shine by Lauren Myracle (Amulet Books; April 2011; Hardcover; Young Adult) So much controversy over this book.  I am so thankful to Amulet for sending me a copy!  It was terrific!
Out of My Mind by Sharon Draper (Atheneum Books for Young Readers; March 2010; Grades 4-6) I had actually pitched an idea for a book to someone, only to learn that Sharon Draper did it first!  I'm glad I read her book, because that would have been very embarrassing! I'm not giving up on my original idea, though...so stay tuned!
Beautiful Chaos (Beautiful Creatures Book #3) by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl (Little,Brown Books for Young Readers; October 2011; hardcover; 528 pages; Young Adult) Oh, the dream team is back with Book 3, and it was just as exciting as the first two!  I love this YA series, and can't wait for Book 4!!

Currently Reading:

Blood Read Road by Moira Young (Margaret K. McElderry Books/Simon&Schuster; June 2011; Ages 14+; hardcover; 464 pgs) It took me about 30 pages to get used to the language, and now I'm having a hard time putting it down!

Currently Listening To:

Game of Thrones: A Song of Ice and Fire (Book 1)by George R.R. Martin, ready by Roy Dotrice (Random House Audio; April 2011) This was such a hefty looking book, I thought I would try the audio...now I really want to see the TV series and put faces to these rich characters!

Plan to Read This Week:

The Crown by Nancy Bilyeau (Touchstone; January 10, 2012; Hardcover; 416 pgs; Adult) An aristocratic young nun must find a legendary crown in order to save her father—and preserve the Catholic faith from Cromwell’s ruthless terror. The year is 1537. . . I'm looking forward to getting swept back to the 16th century!

I will also be reading The Crown sometime soon, and am rather excited about it. It sounds like it's going to be a great read. I also can't wait to hear what you think of Blood Red Road!
