39 Clues: Unstoppable -New 4-Book Spinoff Series
Scholastic will add another spin-off series to its 39 Clues franchise! The original series was ten books of action and adventure, travels around the world, and the first of its kind multi-platform experience - including book, trading cards, online game. The original series ends with Book 11:VESPERS RISING, which serves as a bridge to the next set of books. The first spin-off series, Cahills vs. Vespers, which follows the same format as the original, is set to release its final volume in the 6-book series on March 5, 2013. CAHILLS vs. VESPERS: DAY OF DOOM is written by David Baldacci. Each installment of the 39 Clues books is written by a different powerhouse author, including Gordon Korman, Patrick Carmen, and Rick Riordan. The first of four books in the series, 39 CLUES: UNSTOPPABLE, is set to release in the Fall of 2013 and is written by Jude Watson.
Kids love the series because of the action and adventure, not to mention the trading cards and online game. Parents love it because the characters in the book travel all over the world, while readers learn geography, art, history and science - just don't tell the kids they're learning!
Oh, and since Hollywood doesn't miss up any opportunity to capitalize on a kids' book phenomenon, Stephen Spielburg is rumored to have committed to producing the first 39 Clues film (2014 release date), with Shaun Levy (Night at the Museum) directing!
As you can tell, this is a middle grade series that I highly recommend if your kids haven't discovered it yet. Luckily for us parents, the series is clearly marked with numbers, and you can tell right on the cover which book belongs to which series.
If your kids, like mine, are all up to speed on 39 Clues, definitely have them try out THE INFINITY RING, the newest multi-platform experience with another all-star author line up. The first book is written by James Dashner!
